DING

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

DING is designed to respect your privacy: the app collects no personal data, shows no ads and does not track you across apps. The only information that leaves your device, if you choose to share it, is your anonymous opinion on a discovery (see below).

What stays on your device

Your progress (completed discoveries, constellation, favorites, sound and reminder preferences) is stored on your iPhone. It is never sent to any DING server.

iCloud sync

If iCloud is enabled on your device, this progress may be synced across your devices through your iCloud account. This data is stored by Apple under its own privacy policy; DING cannot access it outside your app.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. DING never receives your name, email address or payment details: the app only knows whether a subscription is active.

Notifications

Daily reminders are optional and scheduled locally on your device. You can turn them off at any time in DING or in iOS Settings.

Your opinion on discoveries

At the end of a discovery, you can say whether you liked it ("It clicked!") or not ("Not for me"). This is optional. If you do, DING sends it to Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) public database, to show everyone the share of "clicks" for each discovery.

Only the following is sent: the discovery's identifier, your opinion (positive or negative) and a random identifier created by the app, used only to count one opinion per person. No name, no e-mail address, no advertising identifier. The developer cannot link an opinion to a person. You can withdraw your opinion at any time by tapping the chosen button again.

New discoveries

To receive new discoveries without an app update, the app occasionally downloads a content file from the DING website, hosted on GitHub Pages. This request contains no identifier and no information about you or your progress. As with any web page, the host may technically log the connecting IP address, under its own privacy policy.

Analytics

DING includes no third-party analytics or tracking tools. Apple may provide the developer with aggregated, anonymous statistics (downloads, crash reports) if you agreed to share them in your iPhone settings.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app erases the data stored on your device. To delete the iCloud copy: Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage.

Children

DING collects data from no one, including children.
